What IS Mountains of MAM?
Mountains of MAM is the raw, uninhibited, uncensored, virtual space for the creative work of Mary Ann Martinez (M.A.M.) from San Fernando, California. "Mountains of MAM" is the name for the personal logo of Mary Ann Martinez. In her teens while doodling she would often fuse her initials, M.A.M., together to form 3 mountain peaks. The center mountain has a river running through it to represent the A. Yet, there is a deeper, metaphorical meaning to Mountains of MAM. Mary looks at her life as a modern-day Renaissance Woman much like that of a mountain range in that each part of her BEing is akin to the mountains, peaks, and valleys in an ever-expansive wilderness. "In the wilderness of life some peaks you summit, others you hike around, sometimes you find a cave, other times you brave storms, but for as much of life's unpredictability and unknowns, we still have seasons to follow and rivers that flow."
Thus, Mountains of MAM can be translated as: facets of Mary Ann Martinez.

Mary Ann Martinez was born and raised in the north-east corner of the San Fernando Valley in southern California. Having embraced the saying “variety is the spice of life” since early age, Mary has managed to create an interestingly eclectic life. Her “occupation” is that of a life-long learner and Renaissance woman, coining the phrase: “Jill of many skills.”
Her passions include: the outdoors and the natural world; frame drumming, music, and rhythms; dance and performance; songwriting and storytelling; communications and writing; literature and philosophy; adventure-seeking and solitude; and most important of all: expressions of love.
